What if I told you there was a better way?
Autism mental health is a unique journey, and you shouldn't have to figure it all out on your own. With patience, empathy, and the right guidance, you can manage your mental health needs and unlock your child's full potential.
Autism Roadmaps
An evidence-based, comprehensive membership community to help you on the unique journey of raising an autistic child with mental health needs. TRANSFORM how you relate to your child and how your child relates to the world.
Life is challenging enough, why does this have to be so HARD?
Navigating mental health needs for an autistic child (at ANY age) can bring along a mix of emotions, such as uncertainty, frustration, and concern. As a child and adult psychiatrist, certified autism specialist, and proud sibling of a brother on the autism spectrum, I get it.
Growing up, I experienced first-hand the wonderful and far-reaching effects that a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, doctors, therapists, had on my brother and, by extension, the rest of my family.
However, as I got older, I realized that not everyone on the spectrum receives the comprehensive array of services that my brother had. Without the right resources and knowledge, families have many trying challenges to face in getting appropriate mental health support, such as:
Communication Barriers - Autistic individuals may struggle with expressed communication or language skills, making it challenging for those outside their immediate family to understand their needs and emotions.
Sensory Sensitivities - Autistic individuals can have unique processing of sensory sensations like light, sound, touch, or taste. As a result, parents may find it difficult to create a sensory-friendly environment that supports their child's mental health. This can particularly be an issue at school and in the community.
Social Isolation - Many parents and guardians report feeling isolated as they struggle to find inclusive social and recreational activities for their autistic child, especially as their child becomes a teen or young adult. The stress from this isolation is associated with increased risk for depression and anxiety in both parent and child.
Educational Support - Parents frequently face challenges in obtaining appropriate educational support for their autistic children that also meets mental health needs. They have to advocate for specialized services and accommodation. This often feels like an uphill battle.
Medical and Mental Health Challenges - Unexpected medical and mental health issues often come up, such as ADHD, OCD, depression, etc demanding special attention. These instances might feel overwhelming, especially when encountering healthcare professionals who might not fully understand the nuances of autism.

— Lillian L.
“Instead of spending all those late night's Googling your worries, come straight to the source. This community will save you so much time and energy.”
— Jessica G.
